Guided Tour of the Big Ben (Elizabeth Tower)

The Big Ben, more accurately named the Elizabeth Tower, is one of the most recognizable symbols of London and the UK. While the name “Big Ben” technically refers to the Great Bell inside the tower, it’s commonly used to refer to the whole tower. Here’s what you can expect from a guided tour:

Introduction: The tour often starts at the base of the tower with a brief history of its construction, significance, and the reason behind its iconic status.

Climbing the Tower: The Elizabeth Tower has no elevators, so be prepared for a climb! There are 334 limestone steps that lead up to the belfry. The narrow spiral staircase can be a bit challenging, but the climb is broken up with several stops along the way.

Clock Mechanism Room: Before reaching the top, you’ll have the opportunity to see the impressive clock mechanism up close. The guide will explain how the clock works, its maintenance, and some interesting facts about its accuracy and design.

The Belfry: This is where the Great Bell, known as Big Ben, resides along with four smaller bells. The guide will share stories about the bell, its casting, and its chimes. If you’re there on the hour, brace yourself for the loud chimes!

Panoramic Views: Once at the top, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the River Thames, the Houses of Parliament, and the London skyline. It’s a photographer’s dream, so make sure to have your camera ready.

Descending the Tower: The descent is easier and quicker, but do take care on the narrow staircase. Sometimes, guides share more anecdotes or point out specific landmarks as you make your way down.

Activity (optional)

Guided Tour of the Houses of Parliament

The Houses of Parliament, also known as the Palace of Westminster, is one of the most iconic landmarks in London. A visit to this historic site offers a deep dive into the UK’s political history and architectural grandeur.

Starting Point: Most tours begin at the visitor entry point located at 3 St. Margaret’s Street, just across from St. Margaret’s Church. As you enter, you’ll pass through stringent security checks, similar to those at airports.

Central Lobby: This is the heart of the Palace of Westminster. Its octagonal shape is adorned with statues of past monarchs and intricate mosaic floors. This is where MPs (Members of Parliament) meet their constituents.

House of Commons: The green-benched chamber is where Members of Parliament debate and vote on legislation. If you’re lucky and the House is in session, you might catch a live debate. The Speaker’s Chair, Dispatch Boxes, and the famous green benches are the main attractions here.

House of Lords: Contrasting the green of the Commons, the Lords chamber is red. It’s grander and features the throne where the Monarch sits during the State Opening of Parliament. The intricate carvings, gold leaf decorations, and historic paintings make this chamber visually stunning.

St Stephen’s Hall: This was the original location of the House of Commons until a fire in 1834. It is lined with statues of historic parliamentary figures.

Westminster Hall: The oldest part of the Palace, dating back to 1097, this hall has witnessed numerous significant events, including the trials of King Charles I and Sir Thomas More.

Committee Rooms and Corridors: These smaller rooms are where much of the behind-the-scenes work of Parliament takes place. The intricate woodwork, stained glass, and artwork throughout these spaces are truly remarkable.

Passport & Insurance

Ensure you are aware of the necessary documents for entry and stay in your destination country (such as passport and visa) by contacting the embassy or consulate of that country in your home country. Keep in mind that certain countries have specific requirements regarding passport validity. It is important to note that regulations can change frequently and may vary based on your travel destination and nationality. Therefore, it is advisable to check this information before your departure.

We will send you a link to verify your requirements after the booking is completed.

Travel Insurance
Before your Trip

When making travel arrangements, it is recommended to obtain insurance, such as travel cancellation insurance. This type of insurance provides coverage for financial risk in case you need to cancel your trip.

In the unfortunate event of a cancellation, we are unable to refund the entire travel cost, as we have already made upfront payments to hotels, transportation providers, and travel guides. Consequently, we will reimburse you a portion of the travel price according to our cancellation policy.
