Rossaveal
Kilronan
Setting Sail
Today your voyage starts by taking a shuttle from Galway City Centre to Rossaveal, where you take a ferry to the largest of the three Aran Islands, Inis Mor. The Gaelic language Irish is still spoken on the islands. You have the opportunity to explore the island on foot, by bike, by horse-drawn carriage or by minibus.
The landscape of Inis Mor (Inishmore) was carved from limestone eroded by centuries of relentless Atlantic winter storms.
Generations of islanders who tilled hard-won, fertile land have created a patchwork of fields bordered by the dry-stone walls typical of the west coast. Inis Mor (Inishmore) is home to a variety of historical and prehistoric monuments, from the dramatic Bronze Age cliff-top fort of Dun Aonghasa to Teampull Bheanáin, believed to be the smallest church in the world.
Transport – Shuttle & Ferry
HIGHLIGHTS
Dun Aonghasa is the most popular attraction on Inis Mor. It is located on the edge of a 90-meter-high cliff on the south side of the island and is a 3,000-year-old semi-circular stone fortress that offers breathtaking views over the Atlantic Ocean, spanning the entire length of the island. Dun Aonghasa is the largest of the prehistoric stone forts on the Aran Islands. It is surrounded by three massive dry-stone walls and a “chevaux-de-frise” made up of densely populated, rugged limestone rocks set vertically into the ground to deter attackers. The fortress is about 900 meters from the visitor center and is accessible over uneven terrain and loose rocks. Therefore, hiking boots or good walking shoes are recommended. There is no fence or barrier at the cliff edge, so please be careful.
The Wormhole, or Poll na bpeist, has become a very popular attraction on Inis Mor since the Red Bull Cliff Diving events in 2015 and 2017. The Wormhole is a naturally formed rectangular pool on the south side of the island. Please do not swim in the Wormhole as it is extremely dangerous.
The Seven Churches, or Na Seacht dTeampaill in Irish, are located in the west of Inis Mor in the village of Eoghanacht and were one of the largest monastic foundations and pilgrimage centers on the west coast of Ireland. Tradition has it that Breacan came here from Kilbrecan near Quin in County Clare in the earliest times. On the island, the tradition states that his foundation competed with St. Enda’s foundation in the east of the island. In fact, the two saints are said to have eventually agreed to divide the island between them. Although referred to as “the seven churches,” there are actually only two churches today.
Seal Colony of Inishmore is located on the coastal road about a mile from Kilmurvy Beach. The seal colony is clearly signposted and has on-site picnic tables, so bring a packed lunch and take advantage of the tables and chairs to enjoy it in the beautiful surroundings. The best sightings of seals occur at low tide when the seals bask on the rocks. At high tide, the seals are much harder to spot, as you can only see their heads in the water. During low tide at the Inishmore seal colony, you can observe 5 to 20 seals at the same time.

Discover the Magic
The Ring of Kerry is the small highway that skirts the Iveragh Peninsula and, for the most part, follows the route of the Wild Atlantic Way. It is undoubtedly
The first town on the route is Killorglin, home to the famous Puck Fair festival held on the 10th, 11th and 12th of August every year.
The first stop will be at The Bog Village – also a comfort stop. This little cluster of thatched-roof cottages demonstrates what rural life was like in Kerry in the 1800s.
After departing the Bog Village, we will continue through the village of Glenbeigh with a view of the beautiful Rossbeigh Beach and a fantastic view of the hills at the back of the Iveragh Peninsula.
The sheepdog demonstration at Kells is one of the most unusual-and popular-sights on the Ring of Kerry. You will be able to see the flocks of sheep on the mountain behind Tom. Tom then gives a fascinating demonstration of how a sheepdog is used to bring in the sheep on real farms. The admission charge is €8 per person, and please be aware this is only a cash payment and paid on site.
For those that do not wish to attend the sheepdog show there is time to take in the beautiful scenery overlooking the magnificent Dingle Bay or have a coffee in the local coffee shop.
Depending on the day, there will be a lunch stop in either Cahersiveen town, The Scarriff Inn or Waterville.
Then, continuing into Waterville, an idyllic beach resort between Lough Currane and Ballinskelligs Bay. The Waterville area and its hinterland are steeped in history and dotted with archaeological monuments. For years Waterville was a favourite retreat of Charlie Chaplin, and there is a life-size statue of him on the promenade.
The tour continues through the area of Derrynane, a rocky cove notorious as a port of call for smugglers in the 18th century.
The next stop is the small village of Sneem – perhaps Ireland’s most colourful village.
Leaving Sneem, we travel through the very rugged landscape and arrive at Moll’s Gap, where the viewing point at the Gap offers sweeping views of MacGillycuddy’s Reeks and Ireland’s highest mountain, Corrán Tuathail – 3,414 feet high.
Continuing from Moll’s Gap to Killarney, we experience far-reaching views over the broad valley of the Killarney Lakes. On her visit in the 19th century, so enthralled by this view, Queen Victoria and her ladies-in-waiting promptly named in their honour: “Ladies View”.
Between Ladies View and Killarney, the coach will pass through the Muckross Estate and return to Killarney at approximately 4.30pm.

Scattered with ancient huts and historic buildings, the Dingle Peninsula has the most rugged coastline in Ireland. National Geographic described the Peninsula as “the most beautiful place on earth”. A great deal of traditional Irish heritage is maintained in this Irish-speaking (Gaelic) region (a Gaeltacht), including traditional music, art and crafts.
The tour will pass through small towns like Milltown and Castlemaine before reaching our first stop at Inch Beach. Inch Beach is a three-mile-long strand and is known as one of the most visually dramatic beaches in Ireland. Inch has provided shooting locations for several Hollywood films, including the epic Ryan’s Daughter. Make a stop for morning coffee and a walk on the beach at 11.30 am for about 20/30 minutes. Then it’s onwards to Dingle coach park, where we stop for approximately 15 minutes for a toilet break. After a short stop, the tour continues to Ballyferriter and Slea Head.

As you round the head of the Peninsula, there are magnificent views of the Blasket Islands, spectacular cliffs and idyllic beaches. This area is the edge of Europe, and history is everywhere – Iron Age forts, beehive huts, early-Christian churches, 19th-century cottages and picturesque stone houses set against a patchwork of fields. This most scenic route winds around the coast to Slea Head, where the view of the Blasket Islands stops many visitors in their tracks.
The tour returns to the coach park in Dingle at approximately 14:00 hrs (2 pm) for lunch. The town of Dingle is full of delightful shops and worth a walkabout. Your top-rated Driver/Guide will make a few suggestions on the best restaurants to enjoy lunch.
