Upon arrival at Dublin Airport you will pick up your rental car.
Depending on the time of day, I recommend a trip to the Howth peninsula. There are seals living in the harbor and they are happy to pose for a photo. Howth is also well known for its fresh seafood. There are a number of restaurants in the harbor.
After having eaten you can go for a nice walk along the Cliffs.
You continue to Dublin and check into your centrally located hotel.

Today you will head westwards to the shores of the Atlantic.
On your way to Galway, make a stop at Clonmacnoise, an old monastic settlement nestled along the banks of the River Shannon. Explore the historic ruins of churches and chapels, and be sure to admire the intricate carvings on the unique Irish High Crosses.
Next, you’ll arrive at the medieval city of Galway. Browse the pedestrian Shop street, where old meets new. Lots of entertainment there, as locals artists and students perform on the street. You might even come across some lively Irish tap dancing.
Check out ‘Tigh Choili’, a local trad musicians’ pub, or Taafes, also famous for the music.

Legend has it that the Gothic-style doorway you see here, serving as the north entrance to the Cathedral, was once used as a confessional. In this unique setup, the priest and penitent would stand facing the wall on either side of the door and communicate by whispering to the stone. The curvature of the door allowed their voices to carry to each other, remaining unheard by others nearby.

As proof of his love, the English financier and merchant Mitchell Henry had this magnificent castle built for his wife, Margaret, at the place where they had previously spent their honeymoon. It was intended to be a cozy home and retreat for the family. Unfortunately, just three years after its completion, this wonderful love story ended tragically. Margaret Henry passed away during a stay in Egypt. Her body was brought back to Kylemore and laid to rest in a simple mausoleum on the grounds.
In 1920, Kylemore came under the ownership of Benedictine nuns. In addition to the restored rooms in the castle, visitors can also explore the Victorian Walled Garden and the beautifully landscaped park grounds, making it a worthwhile destination.

Then continue along the Black Head Drive. This is a stunning coastal road. On one side the Atlantic rages, on the other side, you can see the limestone desert of the Burren area.
Drive along the coast to the famous Cliffs of Moher. There you might fancy a walk along the cliffs (ca. 9 km both ways) from O’Brien’s Tower to Hag’s Head Tower.
Then have a relaxing evening in the seaside village of Liscannor.

In the morning make your way to a car ferry at Killimer. There you cross the longest river in the British Isles (Shannon) to Tarbert. Keep you eyes peeled for playful dolphins that usually accompany ferries.
Then continue to Dingle, the main town of ‘Gaeltacht’, an Irish-speaking area. It goes via Ventry past the prehistoric beehive huts of Fahan to Dunbeg, a prehistoric fortification located directly on a cliff above the sea. Then it’s along the sea to the stunning Slea Head lookout point where you can have a magnificent view of the Blasket Islands offshore.

Legend associated with Torc Waterfall involves the story of a beautiful maiden named Máire Rua, also known as Red Mary. It is said that Máire was deeply in love with a local chieftain, but their love was forbidden as he was already betrothed to another woman from a rival clan.

This nineteenth century Victorian mansion is set against the stunning beauty of Killarney National Park. The house stands close to the shores of Muckross Lake, one of Killarney’s three lakes, famed world wide for their splendour and beauty. As a focal point within Killarney National Park, Muckross House is the ideal base from which to explore this landscape.
Muckross House was built for Henry Arthur Herbert and his wife, the water-colourist Mary Balfour Herbert. This was actually the fourth house that successive generations of the Herbert family had occupied at Muckross over a period of almost two hundred years. William Burn, the well-known Scottish architect, was responsible for its design. Building commenced in 1839 and was completed in 1843.
